Take charge of your diet!
Add plenty of nutrient-rich, organic fruits, vegetables, and nuts to your diet and eliminate all processed foods and sugar. Sugar depresses the immune system putting your body at a disadvantage at fighting off illness. Processed foods are chemicals that poison the cells of your body. Unhealthy, malfunctioning cells lead to sickness and disease. The easiest and most cost-effective change you can make to your health is as simple as cleaning up your diet.
Are your vitamin D levels up to par?
Why does the incidence of the flu decrease during the summer months and is lowest in the southern hemisphere? The answer is that these both correlate with high levels of vitamin D. The optimal range of vitamin D we would recommend is between 75-85 ng/ml. Ask your physician to monitor your 25-hydroxy vitamin D level every three months until it is in the optimal range. We recommend taking 10,000 i.u. of vitamin D3 each day if you are having a physician monitor your levels. If you are not having your levels checked, we would recommend you take 1000-2000 i.u. vitamin D3 each day.
Get Plenty of R&R.
Now that doesn’t sound too bad, does it? Make sure you are getting eight hours of sleep each night to give your body time to recharge. Unbeknownst to you, your body is quite productive while you sleep repairing and regenerating your cells. Healthy cells are important for a healthy immune system.
Exercise less for looks and more for health.
Did you know that your muscles and cardiovascular system are not the only parts of your body that benefit from regular exercise? It also strengthens your immune system by improving your immune response. Now you have more than one reason to head to the gym or take a walk!
It’s time for an oil change.
Many of us tend to have a lot of unhealthy omega-6 oils from processed foods in our diet. It’s time to get an oil change! Replace the unhealthy oils with beneficial omega-3 oils as found in fish and cod liver oil.
